Where do I even start with Gemma Davis? This woman is THE REAL DEAL! Obviously she is absolutely stunning. But this doesn’t even BEGIN to describe the inner beauty this woman radiates! I struggle to sufficiently put into words how much I admire and look up to the incredible work Gemma shares through The Compassionate Road. Not only is she is a dedicated mother and wife, a yogi, Naturopath, animal rights activist, Council member of Voiceless the Animal Protection Institute, blogger, creator of delicious plant-based food recipes – she is also one of the most humble and down to earth people I have ever met.  She is helping others to live healthy, cruelty-free lives and is inspiring us all to make mindful choices to create positive change in the world. It's my absolute pleasure to share a little more about Gemma with you!

Gemma Davis The Compassionate Road

A little about you?

I am a Naturopath and a Council Member of Voiceless The Animal Protection Institute and work on my blog The Compassionate Road to help people see you can live healthy, cruelty-free lives. I am committed to help raise awareness to the plight of animals being exploited in factory farming, entertainment and experimentations.

Just like everyone else, I am just trying to do my best and enjoy life along the way! Personally I do this by aiming to be conscious and present when making decisions- large and small. I have been vegan for 13 years, we eat mostly organic, we compost, recycle, use solar panels, drive the same stinky old Hybrid Toyota Prius for 9 years, practise ashtanga yoga 5 days a week for 13 years, mediate… and try to not be an assh*le.

But I also recognize the brilliance of “imperfection” in life… I cry when I feel sad, I relish crazy fun nights with my girlfriends, I love pretty things- art, fashion, music…  I embrace the whole thing.

My two young children and husband have been my greatest teachers.

A little about The Compassionate Road?

The Compassionate Road is a space dedicated to starting a conversation and providing factual information in an easily accessible form on how and perhaps why we would want to live a healthy and cruelty-free life. I write about natural health, animal rights, share tasty and simple plant-based healthy recipes, programs and interviews.

Any exciting projects you’re currently working on and feeling inspired by?

I am working on a documentary which is very exciting to share with the world late next year.

If you could spread one message throughout the world, what would it be?

We can all make small changes that may seem insignificant but when multiplied by billions, they will make a big impact!! Personally also another favourite blessing I like to live by and is relevant around the globe in every situation:

God grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can;

And wisdom to know the difference.

What do you find most beautiful in life? By far my relationships with the people I love.

When do you feel most beautiful and why?

  • After my yoga practise because I feel centred and connected,
  • When I am dancing to great music with great friends because I feel free and happy!
  • On beach holidays with my family because I am completely relaxed and content

Your favourite natural beauty product and why? I love jojoba oil as a moisturiser, eye makeup cleanser and lip conditioner.

Your favourite Beauty Foods? Lots of fresh organic vegetables, oils and clean water. Keeping it simple really.

La Mav Organic BB Cream

La Mav Organic BB Crème

I didn’t like chemical sun creams but still loved the sun so unfortunately now at 33 I have many sunspots! So I now wear tinted moisturiser with sun cream… but to find an organic product with natural sun cream that also looks great was such a bonus for me. I love La Mav and I LOVE this product for everyday use.

Acure 100% Certified Organic Argan Oil

I like oil for night time in the winter when my skin is feeling dry. I was pleasantly surprised by this one as it soaks in brilliantly and actually doesn’t leave you feeling “oily”. It does have a slight “foodie” smell to it, which doesn’t offend me, but I know my daughter was not keen on it.

Acure Moroccan Argan Oil

Ere Perez Mascara

Fantastic product. Does contain beeswax so not vegan but again if that doesn’t bother you then I think you can’t tell the difference between this one and the standard commercial ones full of nasties… so really it’s a no brainer- what would you prefer to be rubbing into your eyes!?
